The University of Hamburg is seeking Academic Tutors for the Master’s program „European and International Law“ (MEIL) for the winter semester 2025/26, starting in September 2025. This one-year English-taught program covers international public law, EU law, and European business law, with lectures from renowned professors across Europe and interactive tutorials. The courses are taught by our European Flying Faculty, a network of renowned professors from ten prestigious universities across Europe. In addition to lectures, students benefit from interactive tutorials in smaller groups, designed to reinforce and deepen their understanding of the material.

What we are looking for: Tutors with a strong law background, very good knowledge in at least one of the following areas (and a good understanding of the others)
• Public International Law
• International Organizations
• European Human Rights Law
• International Dimensions of Human Rights
• Legal Foundations of EU Law
• Areas of Freedom, Security, and Justice
• Internal Market and External Relations
• Competition Law
• European Private Law
• European Company Law
• Insolvency Law
• Financial Markets and Regulation
• Legal Writing

Key Tasks:
• Prepare and teach tutorials to complement lecture content
• Collaborate with fellow tutors in weekly planning and content discussions
• Assist students with questions on the lecture material and support their learning

Required Qualifications:
• Completed law studies (Bachelor + Master’s degree)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proficiency with common computer applications
• Reliable, independent, and proactive work ethic
• Commitment to teaching for at least one semester (September to end of December)
• Ability to teach fluently in English

Positions and remuneration
A total of three to four tutor positions are available. You may choose to teach one or one and a half groups with in average 4 or 6 teaching hours of 45 minutes each per week plus preparation time. The remuneration is currently 75€ per teaching hour. The tutorial teaching can well be combined with a research stay for a PhD thesis.
